Half of the UK's adult population do not have a Will in place - don't become a statistic!

Making a Will is one of the most important jobs you will ever do. If you haven’t got a Will in place, legal rules called the intestacy rules determine who benefits from your estate when you die. These rules can have very strange consequences and certain groups of people are completely excluded from benefit, such as those who live together but aren’t married or in a civil partnership. The only way to be sure that the people who you want to benefit from your estate do benefit, is to make a Will. Wills are important because they don’t just allow you to decide how your estate will be distributed, they can also be used to:-

  • Appoint people you trust to administer your estate and see that your wishes are carried out.
  • Appoint guardians to care for your minor children.
  • Determine at what age your children should receive any inheritance you leave.
  • Set out details of your funeral arrangements.
  • Plan for nursing home care fees.
  • Help reduce inheritance tax liability.
  • Make life easier for your family when you pass away.
  • Provide peace of mind knowing your affairs are in order.

Our Services

New Wills

If you do not have a Will in place, we can advise you as to the best way to structure your new Will taking into account your family and personal circumstances and of course, your wishes.  We will provide advice on any taxation issues that might arise from your assets and discuss with you as to the best way to minimise that potential liability.

If you have concerns about having to pay fees for nursing care in the future, we can assist you in considering the best way to structure your Will and your affairs to minimise that liability.

Existing Wills

If you already have a Will in place, it is a good idea to review it every 3-5 years to take into account any changes in your circumstances, or any changes in the law or taxation rules.  We can help you consider whether your existing provisions still suit your circumstances and update you on any changes that you might not be aware of or other issues that you may not have previously considered.
